In ancient Kashmiri, "Sozan" referred to a wise man. The Sozani stitch, named after this term, is a refined couching stitch where a reinforcing stitch is laid over a basic stitch. This stitch can appear as a simple, continuous line or a diamond-shaped outline used for petals and flowers, and is also employed to fill motifs. The key feature of the Sozani stitch is its reinforcing element, which imparts delicacy and uniformity to the embroidery, ensuring a consistent appearance on both sides of the fabric.
