This natural abundance of wood, combined with the skills of local artisans, helped establish Saharanpur as a hub for woodcraft. Saharanpur woodcraft is a traditional craft that originated in the city of Saharanpur in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The craft is believed to have its roots in the Mughal era, around the 17th century, when it flourished as a centre for wood carving and furniture-making.
