Gwalior Handmade Carpets are renowned for their fine craftsmanship, vibrant colors, and intricate designs. Dating back to the Mughal period, the craft flourished in Gwalior, where carpets were woven even in jail workshops. Weavers employ single-knot techniques, making the carpets lightweight and easy to fold. The patterns depict natural motifs such as birds, animals, and forest scenes, along with geometric shapes. The soft, thin texture and rich colors distinguish these carpets, making them highly sought-after both in India and internationally.
