Khatamband is one of the oldest wood crafts of Kashmir, emerging from the region’s unique geo-climatic conditions and socio-cultural history. This traditional craft employs indigenous tech niques and practices specific to Kashmir, utilizing locally sourced raw materials that are both aesthetically pleasing and cost-effective. Khatamband is commonly used for false ceilings, panelling surfaces, as well as in the creation of table tops, doors, and various furniture items, showcasing its versatility and the rich heritage of Kashmiri craftsmanship.
